Hello from Delaware

I’m Krystal. Had fish tanks on and off my whole life cause my dad loved them. The one we have I let go some in the last year, my dad usually took care of the. When I realized I needed to take the whole thing apart to clean I decided on a new tank, one I could have be all mine. Also as a way to feel closer to my dad. In doing so I realized that while I learned a lot from him, there’s still a lot to learn. I just finished putting water in her and plugged everything in. In a week or two after the cycling I’ll move my fishes to their new home!
Hopefully this goes smoothly. I do know the tank needs more stuff, some of it will come from their tank now once I can boil it. I was thinking about a bridge type thing. We were going for ‘under water shire’.

It usually takes longer than a few weeks.
Id really recommend live plants. What light do you have?
What size tank?

It is a kit, 55 gallon. The plants are live, except what’s on the cave. I will be getting more, but the price tag for all this tapped me out this week lol.
Now that it’s all plugged in I’m going to go back and read about cycling. Either way, they won’t be going in it until it’s settled. They’ve waited this long for me to get it together.
I think my only question at this point is which air stone is working right? The heavier flow or the lighter? It’s 2 different types of tubing so I’m not sure which one I should switch out.

Im not sure that stock lighing will be able to grow plants very well.
Is it a 55 gal?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Since you are just starting out on your cycle I would suggest picking up a bottle of Tetra SafeStart Plus. The small bottle will due since it covers tanks up to 60 gallons and will help jump start your cycle. The other thing you could do is a planted/silent cycle by picking up some fast growing floating plants and adding them to you tank.

I can get more plants! I actually already added the safe start, already had that. Use it for water changes on my other tank.

Good, then you are ahead of the game! Two good fast growing plants to pick up are water sprite and anacharis.
