Hi everyone,
Some of you already met me on the TFF fb page. I'm one of Branwyn's "recruits" (thank you Branwyn :D )! I started this hobby when I had this brilliant idea to gift my husband on his birthday (last January) with a 10 gallon start-up tank. The way he tells the story is that to his birthday I got myself an aquarium, and then, since I liked it so much I got myself another one (30 gallons). But he also admits that it is all balanced out by the gift he got me for Christmas, which was a membership to a gun club for the both of us. :)

In our 10 gallon tank we (or should I say "I" lol) have a Betta and 5 Kuhli Loaches, in the 30 gallon we have 9 Rummynose Tetras, 3 female Platy-fish, and the newest addition 6 Otocinclus. I love taking care of my tanks (oops, I said "my" tanks), I love my plants in there, finally some plants in this house which I don't kill by not watering them, and I love relaxing in front of the tanks, listening to nice music, reading or knitting!
Another passion of mine are dogs. We have two of our own, one being a poodle-cocker-spaniel mix, the other a poodle-schnauzer mix. I volunteer at a local dog rescue by knitting dog sweaters for them. Once our children (young adults, really) have left the nest I hope to be able to help out more in that rescue group by fostering dogs until they're adopted.

That's about all I have to say for now, don't pay too much attention when my wording sounds weird, you can blame it on my having spent the first 24 years of my life in Germany. Thanks for listening, and I am looking forward to spending some time on this forum!

welcome to the forum :good:

iv all ways wanted to go to Canada, still plenty of time to tho =]

Hi Mike
Thanks for the welcome! And Canada would be a nice holiday destination, no matter which province you'd pick to visit. :D

Thank you, everyone, for welcoming me so warmly! I've noticed that this is a very active forum you guys have built. And I've already learned two new things: don't boil the wood, it weakens the wood's fibers, and there is a certain kind of kitty litter you can use as substrate. :hyper:
