Anyone know of any UK websites that sell heaters for a reasonable price, the cheapest I can get a small one for in the lfs is £25 - is this normal?

Also I'm going to be after some lighting for a 3' tank soon havent looked into this at all.

Cheers

A A - Going to order that Eheim ecco later today :p

hmmmm, may wait till tomorrow as I get the tank tonight, 3' tank but not sure how deep or wide it is so might have to get the Ecco 2233 2235. The 2231 is only suitable for 100 litres and I think a 3' tank will be more than that, I'd rather have an over powered filter than under.

That's a terrible price! I usually buy heaters online, either Ebay or one of the Aquarium supplies online shops. I recently bought a 50w Eco-therm for £12, brand new.

For instance, one current Ebay auction for a 100 watt. The 300 watt from the same vendor is going for the same price. Ultimate Aquatics have a similar 100 watt going for £13.50 + p&p, and Aquatics Online have both 50 and 100 watt thermoheaters going for £10.99 + p&p (and also a little 25 watt for £9.99). Unfortunately my favourite Aquatics Warehouse seems to be down at the moment but it might be worth having a look on their site.

If you can write a list of £30 worth of stuff most of these sites have free p&p.

Tried that - it doesn't work. What I need is a really aggressive fish so I can keep the card in his tank. :S

Actually thats not a bad idea, I think I've got 2 so a little bit of sealant and I could make a nice cave for my puffers when I get them. ;)

Does anyone have any ideas of a rough volume for a 3' tank, I wouldn't have thought it would be any weird size.

It'll be about 30 US gallons or 120 litres.

So I would need the Ecco 2233 or the 2235 then. I take it these filters are pretty good? Anything I need to know about them?

Yes - you don't need to buy expensive Eheim media (you get one set with the filter, but for future reference).

OK this may seem really dense, which type of media are we talking about, floss, carbon (I know its dire), sponge??? HOw adaptable are they inside for getting your own type of media?

Well AA I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to shoot you...

I've just been looking at those links you've given me and priced up and order that I'll probably put through tomorrow for over £80 of kit that I absolutely need (want) ...girl friend is going to go ape...may be talking in very high voice for a few weeks :p

Just a couple of Qs:
- Any lighting systems better than others
- Ditto above for heaters
- Does anyone have a box of kleenex handy, I think my card company are going to start crying soon :-(

 Excellant, cheers for that, I've just book marked that one, Yay I love it one someone does all the hardwork and we just have to punch in figures :p

Thanks again
