while we were freaking over the loss of an angelfish (due to the warzone i have found out my tank is) and i was chking the thermometer.
Our heater came with the tank that was given to us. And it always kicked in. We have had this tank for about 2 months, but i caanot tell you how old alltogether this heater is.
Today, the thermometer was at the lowest of the green safe zone. The heater was just sitting there sleeping.

we did tell it to start working again, and it went along its merry way.
Now, I was part of the lucky Ontarians that were without power recently. could this of somehow "reset" the heater? The heater is quite important.. and i can't afford a wonky one.

Not sure of the internal workings of aquarium heaters. It is very possible that some fuse, thermistor, or whatever they use, blew inside. Power outages have a tendency to do that to electronic components (I fix em for a living).

Set the heater to a high temp and see if it turns on, if not, more than likely you'll need to get a new one. It's almost a case of better safe than sorry...
