The one major problem for my tank so far, would be that my heater (an old second hand) doesnt stop heating....

if i leave it on it keeps heating the water and last time i left it on it to see how high it got it was up to 29'c and still going, so i decided to turn it off, seeing as i dont think my fish would appreciate it. To solve this problem i leave my heater on at night, and unplug it at day. I'm worried one day i'll forget and hav to hold many a funeral. ............not saying i give funerals to fish's..................

does any one have any way to prevent my fish dying from being too cold or roasted alive?

i got two second hand heaters but both of them are the same.

i alwayz forget to mention somthin..
there are no dials or any thing to adjust the heat....that jsut says its really old but i'm hoping theres still a way around getting a new heater........
but if i must.....

You definitely need a new heater. I don't know how your temp is running now without it but for tropicals, it's almost a must, especially in the winter. They aren't really expensive, depending on what size your tank is. Order online if at all possible. Hardware is much cheaper online than at the LFS. Or if you live near a Petsmart, the stores will honor their online price. Just print out the page from their online store and take it in with you.
