Hey guys,

I have a penn-plax 150W submersible heater that recently stopped working. a solder joint that connects the electricity to the coils has broken. i decided to try to fix it myself as it seems pretty easy, however the black rubber sponge seems to be quite the pain to take out. has anyone tried doing this before? if so any suggestions for an easy way to get it out would be greatly appreciated. ill keep updating as i go in case of future problems people may have and want info on how to do it.

thanks all :)

Remember the risks in attempting to fix a submersible heater. Consider buying a new one, after messing with the heater the seals will never be the same again...

Yeh I imagine the seals will be really hard to refix unless you have some proper sealant resistant to expansion when heated.

Best of just buying a new one or contacting the company that makes your heater to complain... unless of course you've already opened it.
