heater in juwel 125

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question, for some reason my tank does not seem to get any hotter then 20.6c, i have moved the heater switch in various directions but im at a loss??

Are you meant to turn the heater control clockwise fortemp increase??? if so how far for good temp?

thanks for your help

Hi i have a juwel 125 also. I had a bit of trouble getting it to the right temperature. I had to turn the dial clockwise a bit each time untill the water heats to the right temp.Took about a week and lots of patience but i finally got there.

The heaters in Juwel tanks tend to be very underpowered for the tank size, my advise would be to replace it with a good quality make such as Visitherm and keep the Juwel one as a spare should you ever need a heater in an emergency.

I was thinking about this too, i have a visitherm in my smaller tank (90litre) and in my Juwel tank (180) i had what came with it, im forever turning it to and fro lol, i may put a visitherm into my juwel tank, at least you can set the max temp on those, and see the light coming on to warm the water up ;)

Talking about the heater, I agree its quite difficult getting the setting right on the Juwel. A simple way to get it set is to place it in a bucket of water which has a temperature just below of what you would like to achieve. Now rotate the knob till the light comes on the heater. Switch off and place in main tank.

A few more twiddlings should get you there.

But if I buy a visitherm heater, will that fit in to the compact box within the tank that the current heater sits in?

If I have the heater at the 12 o'clock position, the temp goes to about 21.5?? The heater can do atleast 23/24 degrees! Must I keep turning it clockwise until desired temp is found??

It is a bit strange, Juwel are an excellent make, you think perhaps they would make the heater more user friendly :/ I have mine set to around 73, and its been like that for the last couple of days, so it should be ok......

I do prefer the Visitherm in my other tank though, you can set max temp, and watch when the light comes on etc.....

When i bought my Rio 240 2nd hand the only thing was the heater that was missing, and the local shop wanted near £25 for a 300 watter, i went to a aquatics place a bit further out and they were having a massive clearout for xmas and i got a bouyo for £12 and it heats it no problem
