just got a juwel 50w heater its dark grey and has a blue knob at the top for temp control but it does not show the temp setting any were so i dont no what temp its on???

Your best bet would be to buy an lcd thermometer on ebay. They're pretty precise. I've been using this one for about 3 years...

Before you put the heater in the tank, why not run it in a small bucket and check the setting. You can change it there and not affect any fish. One you are happy, unplug it and move it to your tank. At one time no heater had temperature graduations on them, we just adjusted to hold the desired tank water temperature and all was well. I still use one that has no graduations on it and also cannot be submerged. You can see one at the right end of this tank with the temperature knob on the top out of the water.
