ill be straight as possible

Is a 100 watt heater enough for a 60 gallon tank? cause the guy that i was gonna buy a 300 watt from said its way too much power.

next thing

While im cycling can i have the carbon and white diamond mixture in my canister? or will it remove the ammonia not allowing a cycle to start.

Next thing

Can i put the crushed coral thats gonna handle my ph in the same place as the carbon in my canister that way i dont have to take 2 filter spots?

Well, it mainly depends on the temperature in your room/surroundings... If it gets really cold, you might want to look at a 200/250 watt if your worried... But otherwise, id go with a 200 - 250 watt heater.

Cheers

You can use a 300 Watt heater in a jam jar, with no problems at all - worry is that the thermostat throws a wobbly and sticks ON, the water will heat to a dangerous temp quite quickly, where as a smaller heater will take longer - thus giving you time to spot it.... maybe ! Personally I would use a 300, or a couple or 150's - one either end.... or if you are using an external filter how about an external heater (300W again) ?
As 2day says it really depends on the ambient temperature, nice warm house may not need a heater at all, chilly draughty room may need more than 300W !

Whilst cycling I would leave out both the carbon and white diamond.
