Hi guys, at my place i sometimes have the problems on hot days where the water temperature goes to high from my standard level. Even if i turn my heater off still remains high because of hot weather. What's the best way to fix this problem??Get a chiller??? On cold days it's no problem i just turn heater higher. :hey:

A chiller sounds cool (sorry :D ) if you are prepared to pay for it. An oscillating fan over the tank can also help, but this involves leaving your hood open and risking escapees. You could also float ice packs in your tank, or change water daily (approx 5-10%) with cool (not freezing cold) water. If you trickle the cooler water into the tank there will be less chance of a temperature shock. Make sure your tank is well oxygenated (with airstones) since oxygen is lost from water as the temperatures increase. Good luck!

Hiya,

I'm from Sydney as well, and I haven't had this problem... Although our apartment stays quite cool to be honest... good insulation i think....

(we haven't had that many hot days!!!)

Heya fellow aussie! I have the same problem dude.

I have a hooded aquarium so i take it off. i have glass lids underneath the hood so i leave them on too prevent escapees. A high temp. rise can have diasasteers. I lost a spiny eel to a temp rise cause i neva noticed in time. :(

Gettin your tank to the basement may be a bit hard i think!! :)

Anyways, different things work for different ppl cause they are all in different circumstances.
