Head And Tail Light Tetra ?

is there anybody on here that keeps head and tail light tetra? i've always found them interesting and want to know more about keeping them and maybe see some peoples pics :D
 
Kept them years ago; you don't see them traded so often nowadays.

Overall Hemigrammus ocellifer are good community fish. As usual with tetras, need to be kept in a group. Not nippy. Only real issues are [a] they do need water that isn't too hard (i.e., up to around 12 degrees dH, pH 7.5; ideally 2-10 degrees dH, pH 6-7); and they only show their best colours in dimly-lit or shady well-planted tanks. In a bright tank without shade they look very washed out. Staining the water a bit (e.g., with peat, bogwood, or blackwater extract) also makes a huge difference to their attractiveness. Otherwise basically hardy, adaptable fish.

thanks for that :) really helpful, i wasnt feeling too sure about them because i seen pictures on the internet where they look really washed out and colourless, and i also have a couple of pics in a book i have where they look stunning so after your explanation i understand why :D i can try to plan my tank for them now :) i'll just make sure i have a lot of floating vegetation :)
