My newest betta is doing fine in his new community, he's even eating the goldfish flakes ? I put tropical "bettamin" in, and frozen bloodworms, but they ignored that. Is it possible that he was fed goldfish flakes at the lfs? I'm worried goldfish flakes aren't exactly the best food for him, but I don't want to overfeed, and cloud my tank by adding food types he wont eat..any suggestions?

*disclaimer*--I know this was posted twice but somehow the first time it ended up with other posts on top of it? :dunno: sorry for any inconvienience.

I have a betta in my community tank and he eats flakes, too. I try to get him to solely eat his betta bites but he insists on eating anything that he can touch.

It's normal. They're little piggies. :)

Yup, the more you experiment, the more he'll eat.

Mine eat all kinds of stuff, including veggies

Why were you feeding him goldfish flakes? Goldfish have different requirements from tropical fish. They eat flakes readily, though, so if you can only get them to eat flakes (esp. tropical) then keep feeding them that while trying to change their diet.

I'd say try hikari betta pellets. My guys seemed to like those pellets more than any of the otehr stuff I gave them.

well, i know they have different requirements, but i keep my tank at 73 or so, adn they all do fine together, in fact I had my last betta for 2 years, and he never had a heater, just the central heating in our home, and a light. (see my signature for the fish I ahve in my 10 gallon)

Ok. I wouldn't recommend it because I had a horrible experience with my 10 gallon. I had only three goldish in the end and they all had fin and tail rot. It took forever to treat them.

Oh well. I wouldn't suggest it, but if it works it works. :D

:-( poor lil guys, I lost my last Betta to fin rot :-( I've been thinking, and I want to give away my goldies :byebye: , but I don't know who'll take them. :dunno: well, maybe i'll put a sign up in our apartment laundry room---fish free to good home, 2 goldies, 1 bowl, and food....? who knows =)

All My Bettas will eat anything that they get given.

Bubba Eats Hikari Happy Chappy Baby Pellets. They are supposed to be for goldfish.
