Today as my hubby was putting our son down I thought I would give Samson one last chance to eat today. I put one pellet in his tank and he actually ate it! Starting more than three weeks ago he started spitting all his food out (you may remember my other threads about him) and even more recently he wouldn't even look at food, he would just swim away. But tonight he ate. I'm so relieved. Even though I know he's not out of the woods yet at least now I know he can hang on a little longer with some food in him. Whew! Here the little guy I've been fighting for:

You can kind of see how he turned grey underneath and he is still slightly swollen there but SO much better than before.

And here he is wanting to thank everybody who responded to my posts and offered advice.

Aw, thanks guys!

Hey, Jim, welcome to the forum! Where are you in WA, if you don't mind my asking? I've been all over, born way up northwest almost in Canada really, lived most of my life in "middle" west WA and recently moved to south west WA after spending two years in RI (Navy!). :) Welcome again!

Have you tried feeding him smushed peas? smash a pea and then feed him the inside part... not the skin.

Oh yes. Smashed peas, HBH betta bites, Hikari Bio Gold, brine shrimp, bloodworms, live water fleas, live worms. Just about everything I could think of. This has really been a long ordeal. I've been treating him for internal parasites on top of this and he has been passing some really nasty stuff but still hasn't been eating - until tonight. woohoo. :D I think I am going to give him a repeat dose of the anti-parasite med that I had been using after giving him some time off with just clean water and nothing else. Unless, of course, his belly goes all the way back down and he is eating normally again with no symptoms.

Congrats! :D He is a beautiful boy... and he's a lucky one to have such a caring owner. Some people would have just given up. Good on you!

Yes, booboo puppy, as a matter of fact, after I married my husband we lived in Silverdale (he had lived there already because he is Navy and was stationed at Bangor). Right now he is Navy reserves so he or both of us are up there once a month for the weekend.

Good news again, Samson ate TWO pellets for breakfast this morning so it wasn't a fluke. I think he's starting to come around. :kana:

Im glad you're betta is feeling better :D and i hope he keeps eating. that happened to my betta and one day he ate one hikari pellet and it was just a fluke. Your fish is beautiful by the way
