I'm after a 48x18x18, preferably with a basic lid and a basic stand. I don't want anything fancy, no one will see it. The lfs's prices are enough to kill you if you had a weak heart, my ideal budget is around.... £150 for the tank, hood and stand, and delivery if need be. I've emailed Mer Aquatica asking on prices, but does anyone have and better ideas?

i think for your budget you would have to look at something secondhand if you want a tank this size with stand hood etc, something like that would take some delivery, prob not worth it, so it would would have to be in pick up distance.
you could try seapets.co.uk they sell a good range of tanks at quite good prices with free delivery however i don't think you'll get a full 4 ft set up for £150 new.
hope i've been some help

I've decided I'm probably going to go for the Fluval Duo Deep 1200, which I *think* is around 48x18x20. And is a complete kit, for about £270. So on top of that I'll only need to add an Eheim Classic 2215, and even that I shouldn't need straight away. Still got a lot to save up though :/

Shame that you live so far down south as I recently found a 48X18X18 for £55 - Tank only with glass sliders, it was an wanted order at my LFS. I was going to buy it myself but my stand wouldn't take it :/

Top that with a DIY hood for about £50 and you would have £50 left of your budget for a stand of some sort

I could see if they would deliver if you want although I reckon that you would want to see it before you bought it.

:/ Why ask a question in the first place. You gave people guidelines for them to go off and find out information for you regarding your plight. Only to state that you have adopted a different stance which is outside the criteria that you originally outlined.

No, I thought that that price was the sort of price that it would cost, which it isn't, and it seems 90% likely I'm not going to be able to get anything better. I can't travel, lift a tank like that (or indeed, probably buy one), or afford much on an income of £20 a month. I can't wait much longer, I've already got a couple of fish put to one side for it.
