how old/large do BPs have to be to become sexually mature? My largest (3.5" red) and my smallest (2.5" yellow) BP, who use to chase each other and my other BP (who is 3" orange) around...and now the red and yellow one are inseparable and are teaming up against the orange one!

they chose a turned over pot/decoration as their home and won't let the other BP anywhere near it. they seems to be spending alot of time in one area on the curved insides...but the angle doesn't let me see if there are eggs....and if i try and turn it to see better they completely go crazy and ram into my arm - I don't want to further stress them out so for now I am letting things be....and either one or the other is ALWAYS inside the pot....if one leaves to eat/swim the other stays until the first one gets back....

are they old enough to have spawned? if so how long until any fry are free swimming?

yeah sounds like they have paired up. have they been doing any digging in the tank anywhere.

as far as free swimmers or fry i am sorry to brake the bad news to you but 99.9% of males are infertile so if you do get fry then u will be extremely lucky. but this will not stop them trying lol.

hope this helps

I'd just like to step and say that there is a growing trend of fertile BP's being sold on the market now, with increasing numbers no doubt.
However, I would seriously doubt if they are all in good health, majority will be inbred to achieve the fertility needed.
