Hi all

So the other week we had babies.. yay fry!! And I was thinking both of my girls (swordtails) had popped as I had little ginger babies and silver from my silver girl but still questioned my ginger girl as she was quite big still and through she was having a long labour. Well I have looked at her tonight and she is huge!! Her belly is massive and Gravid spot is as black as spades. Now I’m really questioning has my ginger girl only popped a few babies out and is now ready to pop the rest very soon or have I got this completely wrong and it was my silver girl that dropped little ginger’s and silver fry?! Her poop is normal and my waters are always intact, parameters below

I think whenever the gravid spot turned black, it means she is going to give birth soon.
Watch this:

I don't know that this can be answered - it's kind of a "wait and see" question. I'm by no means an expert on live births (had guppies when I was 4 yrs old LOL) but sounds to me that you are right and the ginger is ready to give birth again. I just hope nothing has gone wrong with the ginger's pregnancy - she is pooping normally right? I don't know if the fry get reabsorbed if she can't give birth or if this could be a "high risk" pregnancy. How exciting about the new fry you have. What do you plan to do with them? I'm sure somebody will come along with some possible answers for you.

Swordtail birthing, as with all things, happens in it's own time so as mentioned, you can only wait and see. Sometimes broods are small, sometimes huge in numbers.
I have seen occasions where fry seem to get stuck coming out and other times when a female dies during or after birthing. Sometimes 'stuff' happens.

I agree with the above

It is likely that she only dropped a few, or maybe the silver one dropped some orange fry, do you have a orange mail

I have 2 orange boys.
Oh well we have to wait for early round 2 of these fry again I think
