hi,

i have a single hatchetfish who was the sole survivor of the 6 i bought who all died from whitespot when i first got them, apparently a common thing?

anyways, he's always been a surface dweller but since i started increasing my water changes frequency to try and get my nitrates down a bit he has started to hang out in the middle of the water instead.

is this something i should be concerned about? he's still eating fine and even jumped for some flake the other day before it touched the surface.

he lives in a 100l/29 gal tank with a motley crew of other fish, some of whom are moving out soon as they are too big.

thanks

As a loner shoaling fish he may just be taking comfort in hanging out closer to the other fish in the tank. As long as he doesn't act stressed it should be ok.
