Left for work this morning and the tank looked brilliant, come home and there is all this muck in there.
Whats happened?

They are diatoms, perfectly normal in new tanks, they should clear up on there own.

:p sounds like that was a bit of shocker for you, but as Nick says perfectly normal - the cuc will take care of them for you :good:

Phew, yeah it was a bit of a shock. Obviously as its not cycled yet I dont have any cuc, is this going to keep getting worse until I get some?

Also how many and what cuc do you recommend for my tank, its the Juwel Vision 260.
 
Probably will get worse before it gets better. diatoms tend to burn themselves out after a couple of weeks so dont worry too much about it.

For CUC I would recommend a mix of snails (cerith, turbos and nerites). Avoid hermits if you are planning on a reef tank or keeping snails at all.

As too how many start off with only a few of each. People very often go overboard with CUC which results in half of it dying off because there is not enough food. I would start with a couple of cerith snails after the cycle has finished and then get a couple of each of the others afterwards and slowly build it up.
