has anyone tried potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide as a water clearing solution i know potassium permanganate can be used as a cure for lice and algie removal ,ive heard rumours that when treated with potassium permanganate then neutralised with hydrogen peroxide the effect on the water is instant ,as these are both pretty toxic ellements id like a few more details before venturing down this road

I have never tried, but I know Potassium has an important role regulating water and nutrient movement in plant cells and thereofre can help to maximize photosynthesis if other factors are present. I would be intrested to hear how it works if you follow this route, I will do abit of research and see what I can find. :)

ive checked out a few links and it can be used as a dechlorinator as well as for parisites and algie control im gonna run a small test on 2.5 gallons and see what the results are ,my problem is gonna be calculating the dosage for the pond sos not to harm the fish

following link might be interesting to a few of you

Thanks for the link, interesting.

Let us know how it goes with the test run. :)

Where do you get this potassium permanganate? And the site that was suggested didn't say anything about hydrogen pexoxide did it? And if you don't mind also what does 2p.p.m. 4p.p.m. mean?

ppm =parts per million i e-mailed the firm who own the site and received this reply re dosage

Question: at roughly what rate per gallon do you add the pottasium and then
at what rate do you add the hydrogen peroxide to neutralise
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: I use one teaspoon per 600 US Gallons of potassium and one pint of
peroxide per 2000 US Gallons to neutralize

both are available at a chemist/drug store the hydrogen peroxide is 3% solution
ive read on some sites this can be used on its own as an algae control

you can use the search feature on the site to look up hydrogen peroxide this is what i did,its in the top right corner

Just a thought but by doing the test on a nice round number say....10 you can multipy the ammounts much easier to suit your pond :D
