Has anyone here ever dealt with Ottawa Aquatics ( http://www.ottawaaquatics.com )? I've been searching for a Canadian online aquatic plant retailer for quite a while, and they are the only ones I have seen with a decent selection as well as other products. I tried placing an order with them on December 13. I got my confirmation email immediately. I've since emailed 3 times since then and have had absolutely no response. I thought perhaps they were closed for the holidays, but there was nothing posted on their website.

I wanted to find out if they generally have a good reputation and (hopefully) my scenario is not common, or if they are a good one to avoid. Has anyone else here ever attempted to deal with Ottawa Aquatics?

never heard of them

i usually go to stores around my place when i need something unless i can't find it!

Most things I can get locally, but plants is another issue all together. The nearest LFS with a good plant selection is about 45 minutes away, but they are qute expensive plus they don't have half the plants I want. Ottawa Aquatics has just about everything I am after, but I find there lack of customer service/response very discouraging. I have one LFS that will order certain plants for me, but often they need to order a minimum of 25-50 units per plant, and that's a bit more than I want to buy of one particular plant... That means I often have to wait until several others request the same plants which can take a very long time.

Just a thought ... was there a phone number or address posted on their website? There is always the possiblity of them having computer issues, possibly they upgraded and it didn't go as smoothly as hoped, or maybe they have such a great security system that your emails are being marked as spam.

Just a thought.

That's possible. I'm trying to remain optimistc and give them the benefit of the doubt. When I ordered on Dec.13, it was charged COD, as they had no instant payment options. If I had payed instantly on my credit card or some other instant method (which they don't offer, presumably for fraud protection reasons), I'd be extremely PO'd at this point.

I do really like their plant selection. I'm just having a difficult time getting ahold of anyone their, and I don't want to be making any long distance calls.
