Hello,

I am a week away from ordering my tank, after almost 6 months of decorating and pleading!! I was looking at a Jewel tank but have come across this tank instead. My wife like the look of it too and prefers the bow front to the normal rectangular tanks, so will probably go for a bow fronted tank!!

The link below gives the full spec, but its the Evasion Evo Horizon 120 Bow Black 67 Gal (300L) aquarium and cabinet. I will be getting a dark brown one.

Tank dimensions: Height 60cm x Width 120cm x Depth 55cm
• Cabinet dimensions: Height 70cm x Width 80cm x Depth 40cm
• Top and base trim made of aluminium
• Brushed anodised aluminium lighting ramp on a rail
• Easy access to the aquarium
• 2 x 30W fluorescent tube lighting with reflectors

My questions are:

Does anybody have any experience with these tanks? Nobody ever seems to mention that they have one. Jewel and Aqua one's seem to be mentioned regularly though!

How much plant substrate will i need to buy for this tank before adding the actual gravel on top? I want to have plants that do slightly better than in my old tank, so am going to add a substrate. I am thinking of adding on top of it the small black gravel but need to source a seller! (any ideas).

Thanks for looking and thanks for your help in advance!!

I had no problems accessing the website. The tank in mention looks like this...

This is commonly known in the US as a bow front tank. Typically, you buy substrate for the size of the tank. For example, if it's 90 gallon tank, I would need about 90 lbs or more of substrate.

Sorry bout that guys, don't know why it was asking for a password cause i have never set one up at that site.

Does anybody that tank or one of the same range?

Trying to find out what the standard of tanks is like and what the internal filter is like (think i will add an external anyway).

Ive used Rocket trading before, I got a aquatlantis tank from them- same make as yours I believe. Its a decent tank, had it for almost 2 years no real problems with tank or cabinet.

The hood looks like its quality from the pics, its not, its a cheap plastic hood.

If you want plants in there you may want to add more light (60 watts over 60 or more gallons is low light) you will not be able to add more tubes to this tank. The two lights that come with the tank are fixed on a metal strip which contains the ballasts. This metal strip fits in and slides across the tank for access. There is not much room and nowhere to position additional lighting.

Mine didn't come with a heater or filter so I cant comment on these.

Overall a decent looking tank but imo overpriced. I wouldn't buy my tank if I could go back purely based on the price.

These guys do some good deals check them out. You could get a bigger tank and cabinet delivered, plus all equipment and fish for £450

Thanks for info about the tank.

I live right beside BOSS aquariums in falkirk. For a bowfronted tank like i was wanting they were charging ALOT. The price went up considerably. I also find the lids to look very shabby quite quickly. They have just started doing a new style of tank, but to be honest it is for the living room and my wife didn't like the look of their tanks. She does however like the tank that i have been looking at. Half the battle of getting a new tank so i have given in and am willing to pay slightly more to make her happy.

Thanks though
