I have 7 harlequin rasboras and I've noticed one that is swimming with mouth open and not eating and not looking good.
Is this a disease? And should I remove it from my tank??
Thanks

Yes this happened to me, I think its mouth rot.

Its mouth was open and it was just staying in the same place, not moving at all.
Later its lip looked as though it was stretched or had a growth, then i checked and its top lip had GONE! then it died over night.

It didnt last long.

I had 4 in the tank with 2 cherry barbs and 4 harlequins and a cherry barb died. :(

as to what to do i am not sure, if you are certain this is it, just isolate it in a seperate tank if you can. there are meds, but you'll need them quick.

good luck

If part of the mouth goes white and starts to get eaten away it is columnaris and needs to be treated with a broad spectrum antibacterial medication otherwise it will kill very quickly.

Sometimes the bottom of the jaw can pop out of place and the mouth will be open and the bottom of the jaw will be distended. You can sometimes push the bottom part back in but it is difficult to do on a small fish.
