i might be adopting a couple harlequin rasboras. the thing is, our fifty five gallon community tank is starting to look a little full (although it is definatly not overstocked) so i'd like to put them in our 29 gallon tank maybe. would it work out with a group of neons, one angel fish, and a pleco?

I'm not sure but I think the Angel fish will eat the neons and rosboras
I was looking a your sig and you already have Angel w/neons. I guess it works then I was always told not to do it.
Angels tend to eat small fish but I suppose tank set up plays a role and neons can be quick LOL I just got some and boy are they fast!!!

How large are your angels, neons and rasboras?

ybhae has the right question there. When large enough, Angels will eat Neons, it's what they do in the wild.

Harlequins are better off in a group of 5 or more. They are very peaceful and work well in quiet tanks with small tetras.

unfortunatly the deal didn't work out so i won't be getting getting the harlequin rasboras. we've had neons with the angels for a couple years now. the angel several years old, but when we first got the neons (they were tiny) he did eat a couple but now it is no longer a problem.

>>> but now it is no longer a problem.

It probably will be! The Neons grew at a faster rate then the Angel. One day he'll reckon he can fit one of those colourful food packets in his mouth again, and then they'll start to disappear. Neons and the like are an important part of the natural diet of Angelfish.

kind of funny FYI :)

Angels and neons that grow up together will live together in perfect harmony. Until the fishkeeper, a while down the road decides to add new neons to a tank of adult angels...at which point...the neons turn to lunch :)

It's sort of like setting up a discus tank....buy them young and put them all in the tank at the same time.

well, we had the angel fish for about five years before we added in any neons, so i believe by that time he was full grown already. he DID eat a couple but now they all live together and no one is being eaten for lunch.
