I couldn't find any real answers and thought it was best put somewhere on internet.

Situation: Bought 7 Harlequin Rasboras

Roughly after 1 week after purchase noticed a single white dot on the lower jaw of 2 Rasboras.
I think it is best described as a pimple on the lip of the Rasbora.
The fish seemed unaffected, were still very active during feeding times and settled well and quickly to the new tank.

After 2 days of watching the white dot had gotten slightly bigger on the two Rasboras and another had a very small white dot appearing.

After another 2 weeks the situation had not changed.

I had a close look at the Rasboras today (week 3) and it appears that 4 Rasboras now have the small white dot.

I am not worried because the fish still appear very active and unaffected. I hoping it will pass with time.

Water parameters:

ph: 7.8

ammonia: 0ppm

nitrite: 0ppm

nitrate: >5ppm

2x 20% water changes weekly.

The tank is an ar620t, 130L/34gal.
Wet & dry trickle filter (carbon removed) with a flow rate of 550L

Also an air stone.

There was an introduction to plants (anubias barteri) before purchasing fish.

Stock:

7 x Rasboras

3 x Yoyo loaches (completely unaffected)

Helpful feedback is appreciated :)

can you get a photo of the fish as i think this would be more helpful in identifiying what it could be

I haven't got a photo yet.
I could try but the fish constantly move and it is hard enough just to spot it.
Also my camera is poor quality
But shall try!

Any chance this white patch could be a graze, from the fish scraping its lower jaw on something abrasive while trying to peck food off the sand/gravel/furniture?

Perhaps, the fish are very active and do enjoy running up and down the sides of the tank.
If it was just a graze I would expect more recovery by now.
One Rasbora was missing most of its fin from its back tail and now has completely recovered.

Is it possible that this could be caused from a pecking order?
It seems like all the bigger size Rasboras have it.

Sorry but I have no chance of getting a photo.
I tried but it is like trying to take a picture of a gain of sand attached to a rocket with a disposable camera.

It sounds like White Spot. Without seeing photos its hard to tell. My Harlequins had the same as well. Especially when they have been stressed from moving to a new home.

In some cases it goes away by itself, but more often than not it will continue spreading to all the other fish in the tank and can be fatal if left untreated.

How is it looking now?

Is it just a single spot, or are the fish covered in little white spots?

I have two harlequins with the same problem too, have had the dots for a good two months now, without any change in behaviour or size of dot! I keep a close eye on them, but none of the other fish have developed it, and all are feeding well. I will QT them if it gets worse/they start to deteriorate but have had no real reason to as yet.
