Okies so two of my harlequin, despite currently being treated for white spot (ich) are acting in what I'd imagine to be mating behaviour. Please tell me if I'm right or wrong!
They are swimming side by side displaying the top fins to each other, tails flitting very fast even when not swimming especially fast then every now and then flashing against each other. Then starting over again. They swim at all angles, not just across the tank. Round in circles, up and down you name it. Short of actually going upside down so far. The rest of the community are generally not bothered by it and they aren't chasing away the other harlequins or the other fish that I've seen.
So is this mating activity or are they sizing each other up? :dunno:
Hugs,
P.

Sounds very much like they are doing their pre-spawn dance. Have you got some plants in there? When they actually spawn its pretty amasing. The pair snuggle up together and the male wraps his tail round the female then the eggs are droped like little grains of sand.

Thaks for answering Breezer. I figured that's what it was. Just a little suprised with one of them apparently suffering white spot (although I am beginning to wonder if my eyes just need testing. ). I shall see if I can catch them 'at it' again tomorrow. That tank lives at the end of my bed. Means I can sneakily watch them without them knowing. B)
Hugs,
P.
Edit:Oops yes, it is planted although the plants are still pretty immature. Two of the sturdiest ones have good braod leaves and plenty of cover tho.
