I heard that danios were a fairly hardy fish on my mother suggestion I was am looking at purchasing some for my brother’s aquarium. He around 14 years old and I'll be doing most of the work but since there is such a variety of different types of danios at the LFS could you possibly recommend a type that is very hardy (Just in Case). The tank size is a 20 gal. and I was looking at getting maybe 5 or 6 preferably small. As I was planning on stocking a few cories as well.
Thanx

That sound good all danios need to be in a group of 5 minimum
the hardiest are Zebras (danio reio), however they are fast and need a lot of space to swim
then you have Leopards (danio frankei [reio])which are a morph of Zebras so are not as hardy but still a very good strain. Aviod longfinned varieties as theses are not as resilliant.

Corys will be a good addition for the bottom of the tank, remember not to overload the bio system too fast. start with the danios and after a couple of weeks add the cories.
Good luck and don't forget to post some pictures :)

I'm also running, for a bit of fun, an unofficial Danio of the month compertion
DOTM

Zebra it is then. But it might be a while before they hope in the tank perhapes in a week I'll have a few swimming and happy. My brother is still upset because we wouldn't let him get a shark (can you imagen who would have to be paying for the upgrade in tank size in a couple of month  ). Once I get my digi cam back from my friends the pictures will be up and posted everyday.
