Hardwater

My hex 5 tank has these white very rough white stuff sticking to the filter just above the water line. Is that hard water? How do i get rid of it? Thanks

If you put a couple drops of vinegar onto a cloth and wipe it across the white stuff (calcium build-up, i believe?) it will come off. Don't get any vinegar into your tank though.

Wow thats gonna be hard not to get vinegar in the tank but i'll try it. Yes i've heard its from calcium. Thanks a bunch!

Are you sure it's hard water?

If you use any aquarium salt, it could be residue from that as the water evaporates.

It doesn't matter much if you only get a drop or two in the tank. Just don't drop the whole paper towel or cloth in. xD
