What is your KH and GH?

At pH of 7.5, as thecichlidaddict mentioned, you can probably accomodate 90% of all common fishes except for drift lake cichlids...

nope, even rift lake cichlids would be fine ;)
Really? That's nice to know since I will probably getting into rift lake tank soon...

But I'd imagine once you put crushed coral based substrates, it will probably shoot past 7.5 easily, correct?

my water is like 37 degrees hardness, so i was wondering what fish would be suitable for that water as well?? i've had a few die for no apparent reason and i'm guessing that it was that (they were guppies who died), also my pH is 8.0
fanks!!! ~dEx :*

yhbae, crushed coral will raise the ph, but more importantly it will help keep it stabel.

KH is more important then PH, because kh is what keeps the ph stable, and it doesnt' matter what your ph is - if it isn't stable, it's no good.

Poindexter that is extremely hard water, even Tanganyikans, which live in the hardest water of the rift lakes, do not come even close to that. I would soften it by mixing it with R/O water or bottled water.

hello everyone i thought my water was very hard but since ive added c02 to the water the ph is 6.2 and the kh is 6 was thinking about keeping gouramies and fishes like that. can anyone recommend some good algae eating fish please.
sorry for delay in replying :*)
