Hardware Problem

I have a big problem with my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop.. when I start it up it runs extremely slow even though the HD is nowhere close to full, and I use the Win XP defrag program every couple of months, so that's probably not the issue. The machine won't recognize the CD/DVD drive at all, and when I try to use my Dell System Restore or Win XP CD, it just ignores it. I am very tired to access to CD drive. so give me suggestion to solve this problem

Just thinking the OP might have better luck on the OEM site forum. No advertising intended, as I don't use anything but Macintosh.
