Hard Water

The water in my 29 gallon tank is extremely hard. How can I make it softer?

Is your tap water same hardness? If not, I would assume you need to re-think your decor - something must be increasing the hardness.
if your tap water is hard, then maybe consider filtering over peat as the best option.

What exactly do you class as "extremely hard" ?

Sometimes its best not to fight it. Consider (in the long run) keeping more hard water loving fish, and less softies..........

doesnt using rainwater make it softer? but rainwater is generally more acidic

Well considering I'm in a flat, rainwater is not an option. Not that I'd even consider for a second using rainwater here in Lodnon it must be liquid toxins!
