Hopefully some one can help.

Recently Bought a new tank on E-Bay. 200 Litres, 4ft long. all is perfect with the tank, apart from it has some SERIOUS water stains on the inside, ive tried everyhting to get it off the glass, windolene, armillatox, soap, vinegar. nothing worked......as i said, its tough water stains, any one know how i can get this off?

HOPEFULLY SOME ONE HAS AN IDEA.........

wet the stains with vinegar then put salt on it and used a hard cloth,
still have to use abit of elbow grease though :)

Hi Angel. no luck with the tank....... :grr:

think i will send it back as its quoted as being in great condition! thanks any way :good:

Hard water stains are best attacked mechanically until you get them down to a thin layer. On a glass tank, that means attacking it with a razor knife. Once it is only a remaining thin deposit, you use a mild acid like vinegar or lemon juice to break down the chemical structure so that it can be removed by scrubbing. It takes the mild acid time to eat into the deposit so you don't want to just put it on and take it back off. Instead lay the tank so that the deposit will be fairly level and then drip the vinegar onto it and let it sit a few minutes before trying to scrub off the deposit. Chemicals take time to act.
Ammonia is a great glass cleaner when the deposit is greasy or oily like fingerprints but it won't do much for hard water deposits.
