When I got home from work yesterday, the babysitter told me there had been a lot of commotion in my 45 gallon tank throughout the day. I sat knelt down in front of it to see if I could see anything amiss or figure out what was going on. The only thing I saw that looked different than usual was my school of golden barbs were kind of in a corner in the plants, but I couldn't see that any of them looked unwell or injured or anything.
I left it be until after supper. Then, I went over to watch my fish a little more, and noticed the golden barbs were all in a big clump of java fern at the front of the tank by this time. And then, lo and behold! I saw eggs! Of course, they were eating the eggs as fast as they were depositing them, but I thought it was so cool to see!! They weren't doing it the way I thought they would... it was more like they were depositing an egg here, and an egg there... I imagined there would be a whole bunch of eggs together, like when my angels spawn. I must have happy golden barbs.
