I saw a horrible neurosurgeon a little over a week ago, which was discouraging. However I am seeing a world renowned neurosurgeon in Spain virtually on the 16th which I am looking forward to. He specializes in my connective tissue disease and is in the top 3 surgeons in the world for this!

After this consult we are going to go there in person for more in depth imaging and surgery (unknown exactly what and how intensive the surgery will be until the imaging)

But it’s promising because Dr Gilete is extremely well versed in my connective tissue disease, and he will often do all of the spinal surgeries in one go, rather than needing to have half a dozen.

So, it’s likely he can fix the brain herniation, the tethered (fused to my spine) spinal cord that I was born with, AND fuse my spine all at once!

Symptomatically and practically I am doing no better however, spending 90% of my time in bed, unable to do much of anything

Good to hear you are seeing a good surgeon soon.
Not good to hear about things being crap. I'm sorry little one, if I could heal you I would. Wishing you the best and hoping things get better. I have even been asking the big guys up there and down there to help you but they don't care. I figured I pray to both and see if either help. I got a horn growing out of my skull but they aren't helping you.

I appreciate it a lot. It’s been rough. Im trying my best though. Losing art and having to drop out of school I think has been the hardest thing for me. But hopefully despite my disease progressing the surgeries will help, both the spinal/brain side of things and when I get my muscles and hips fixed again

I’ve joined 8 different rare disease advocacy groups and will hopefully be making more educational material for my TikTok and YouTube channels soon.

That in combination with the medical book I illustrated (being released may 1) I’m hoping will get my foot in the advocacy world. It’s exhausting to have to advocate for myself and I know others feel the same, and I want to make people feel less alone and provide resources

Happy Easter, everybody. I hope everyone has a good day. I know there are a lot of Christians on the board, and this is a pretty special day for us. It is a good day to refocus on what really matters. Hope is a very powerful force when it is based on something real.

If that isn't your thing, well, have a great day anyway.

I'm a big believer in Spring, but am surrounded by followers of Islam and Christianity who are celebrating right now, and people who were really into the Hindu celebration that just went by. That's the perspective of a language teacher working with new arrivals!
It's a crowded time of year and I hope everyone enjoys their festivals and the peace that they'll hopefully bring. I'm off to an Easter egg hunt with some little kids, and then the traditional feast. My (grown up) kids are home for the weekend. Life is good.

Lent is done and the chocolate is flying around the house.

Everyone has left except grandson who will be staying with us a couple of days. I was very happy to everyone and we had a nice day. It was 61f so I deep fried the Turkey outdoors. The day has concluded and I am happy to see everyone off.
