About 3 weeks ago my male giant had an accident/injury from keeping his head above water. It was like nothing I've ever seen...the scales between his eyes were sticking straight up,his lips were sticking straight out like a duck and he had what appeared to be a deep hole in his forehead. On the second day he got a severe case of popeye, I'm assuming he had water accumulated in his head from the hole. It was and has been, terrible.
So I moved him from his 4 foot tank and into a 1 gallon, which is a tight squeeze for somebody his size but I had to do it in order to do 100% water changes every day and add minerals to his tank at a high concentration. In the meantime my female is down in the dumps missing him, and vice versa
I just did his water change a few minutes ago and I fear I speak to soon but I do believe he is well now Hole is gone, scales are lying down, his appetite is back, his lips are still a little ducky but other than that,he looks great!! I almost started crying when I looked at how well he was! The best feeling evah! I was worried sick over him and I just want to see him grow to his full potential
I think I'll keep him in the 1 gallon for another day or two, and then him and his girl can go back into their split 4 footer
