my tank started out as as a FOWLR so i had a powerfilter w bio wheel. i later took the bio whell out of it so now its only use is to catch uneaten food and turn over 260 gal of water.
now i have new MJ 900 powerheads, and was wondering if i should take out the powerfilter? it traps a lot of food in it. is it better to have the food traped in there or let the clean up crew have a chance 2 eat it if it were to stay in the main tank?
my nitrates are at 70 ppm. even after 20% water changes every week.
the food that gets traped in there is mainly freeze dried brine shrimp. since once it hits the water it goes every where.
