Hang On Back Filters - None On Sale In Uk

i have read a lot of the preople from the states raving about their ac110 hand on back aquaclear filters and they seem pretty cheap, why is it these filters are not available in the UK, i searched ebay and no ac110 can be found in the uk or in fish stores.

I've been working in the trade for the last 2 years and I've never heard one mentioned once, none of the major wholesalers seem to stock them.
Theres nothing wrong with them, it's just a product which hasn't taken off in this country for some reason AFAIK

Europe tends to use internal or sponge filters on smaller tanks and cannisters (which are normally considered superior to HOB) on larger tanks.

Most products seem cheap when you look at American prices though you have to remember the lower average wage over there and the fact that the pound has crashed against the dollar recently. Also, as the best cannisters are European made (think Eheim) they will have a higher mark up for America to account for shipping so will appear more expensive in that market.

I have a small HOB filter, it's brand ( on a little sticker on the back ) is Aqua Vital. Not sure how well known that is. I bought it in a garden centre.

It's like Andy said: They simply aren't as popular. Here, internal filters aren't as popular. They are available but most often used in turtle tanks or the like.
