Hello.

My fiancee has been bugging me to get a hamster, and I finally gave in.

Does anyone know of a good hamster forum?

theres not really much to know, just give them a cage, food, water and some chew toys and play toys and away you go

i'd get a russian dwarf hamster personally, but be carefull not to get a plain dwarf cause those things are evil

Ok ... my fiancee wanted a teddy bear from the start. She's kept them before, and knows a bit about them. I figure I better learn a bit too, before we go out to buy a cage, etc.

I hear ya on that one! My sister got a female dwarf hamster and everytime you'd even stick a finger in her cage she would jump at you and try to bite it! My mom was cleaning her cage one time and it latched onto my mom's finger and she flung it across the room. :( She got so scared and she just tried to shake it off. It hit the floor and was knocked out. We put her back in the cage and she woke up again a few minutes later. :/ I felt bad, but she was a bad hamster, still deserves food, water, clean cage, and love though. She lived for a couple of years.
