hamster question

also sometimes he chatters his teeth, he doesnt do this often but i have him on my keyboard with me alot (as i do now) and i noticed it, he does it when hes sleeping also

I'm pretty sure the teeth color is normal. The teeth chattering may be teeth grinding, which would indicate fear (which is might be if you have him on the keyboard, lol), pain, or distress. Is he acting ok? However, he could just be chattering his teeth because they're getting too long as well. Do you give him plenty of wood to chew on and hard, pelleted food? Well, I guess he could just like chattering his teeth too, but I don't think thats usually a completely normal behavior.

Teeth do get yellower as they get older, but as randomwiktor said, give him somehting hard to chew on, you can buy blocks of flavoured wood, like strawberries and carrots etc, t entice them to chew it.

I don't know if its true for hamsters, but rats chatter their teeth when they are contented. How does he seem when he's on the keyboard, as in, happy, or scared or what?

he doesnt only when hes on my keyboard, he does it when hes anywere, i hav notived it quite a few times

i have this circular salt wheel i think its called that he can chew on and he has some hard food and nuts in his cage

Maybe he's learning to type for you!!! :D Serious now he is properly just grinding his teeth down...my hamsters do it all the time in the night...usually using the cage bars in the process.

Hamster teeth are yellow so don't worry its a sign of health! As for the teeth chattering he is simply grinding his teeth its normal behaviour and nothing to worry about hes keeping them short most rodents do it :)

well ive heard a pine cone is good for keeping hamsters teeth short. ive give my male hamster 1 but hes not that intrested in it. :D
