My halfmoon betta has a ripped fin. I put some stress coat along with some aquarium salt in the aquarium and took out all the sharp things. How long will it take to re-grow?
Is it true that they have the most delicate tail of any betta species?Just keep his water clean and you'll see improvement in a few days.
I did a small water change this morningAll bettas tails are very delicate, though the heavy finnage of halfmoons tend to tear more easily.
Depending on your tank conditions and the severity of the tear, it will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks or months.
He LOVES to flair, here is a picture of him flaring and the ripWhen such situations exact or similar to the one that you are encountering at the given time is usually a result of over flaring, plastic plants, sharp decorations and sometimes the filter intake. Though it usually can be kept from getting any sort of infection by changing water daily and slowly raising the temperature to 80-82, the severity of the injury can be a major factor in the time, and disease susceptibility. So if it is a small rip then My recommendation would be to do daily 25% water changes and heating the temperature in the tank to a bit higher, with this treatment the rip should go away in a max of a week, but usually around 3-5 days
Looks like there's a bubble nest in the tank there too - he must not be feeling too miserable then
Do you have plastic, silk or just real plants? Apparently the plastic ones can rip fins.
