Shops are prone to selling super deltas as half moons so they can charge more.

To be sure, you need to get him to flare by holding a mirror where he can see his reflection. If the edges of the tail are 180 deg apart, he's a half moon. If they are less than 180 deg, he's a super delta - or a very young half moon who has not got his full finnage yet. In this case, try again with the mirror in a couple of months.
