I noticed a long hair coming out of one of my Dwarf Rainbows tiny mouth this afternoon poor thing. She was obviously stressed out by it,thrashing around to try & get rid. I couldn't leave her like that so had to think quick on my feet.
I decided to catch her & pop her into a floating breeding trap. I then drained almost all the water out so that I could get hold of the hair more easily & pulled slowly. Luckily it slipped out easily. I then gently released her back with her buddies and altho shell-shocked for about a minute is none the worse now.
Just shows how simple things like a fallen hair can be a death trap for our little wet friends. I don't think I'll be going over the top & start wearing a surgical hat tho - maybe just a shower cap .
