I have a planted 36G, CO2 Injection, 3.3 WPG, tank with hair/fuzz algae. I am going to try the EI method to control this. It has also been suggested to me that since most of my plants (swords, corkscrew val) feed off the substrate, that there are too few plants removing nutrients from the water. I had cabomba which grew quickly, but was messy and was choking out everything else, and developed a slime type algae on it so I removed it.
Should I place more stem plants to utilize the nutrients in the water?
Will dosing per EI work with the plants I have?
