Hello all

I'm looking for a lil brighter and better light for my 20 gallon planted tank. As of now I have a 20watt perfect-a-lamp in my hood.

My question is: Is the Hagen 20watt Sun-glo lamp any better than this?

Thanks

BTW: If the answer is no can you suggest to me an alternative lamp?

I use Sun-glos in combination with Aqua-glos, so as to cover the entire plant-growing spectrum. This works well but on its own the Sun-glos didn't do so well for my plants and seemed to wash out my fish's colours.

I recently bought 4 Fluval Tanks as kits. They came standard with Power glo and Sun Glo tubes in a twin lighting system and they're fab.

Good plant growth.

Sun-glo are ok for fish colour but no good for plant growth. You really need two lamps minimum for decent plant growth, but if you've just the one then use a reflector, this doubles your output.

I've had good results with Arcadia's Tropical Freshawater, Interpet's Triton and Daylight Plus. The Daylight Plus has 4-band light spectrum and caters for most requirements. Good luck

i like powerglo .. cause it's well rounded..
i currently have a two powerglos and one marine glo on my 33gallon..
can anyone give me a better combo for lighting.. :)

I would like to know what the best 18" 15w bulb would be to bring out the color of the fish in my tank.

Because it is a large hex tank real plants don't do well and therefore i have silk and plastic. The back three panels are covered with black background.

I was hoping to find a bulb that would make the colors "pop"

Thanks
