How many of you use the Hagen ladder/bubble counter to diffuse your co2 and how many gallons do you use it on? I know Hagen receommends the system for up to 20g but I am interested in how many folks use more than one ladder at a time for bigger tanks... How well do multiple ladder diffusers work for a 29G?

I have two Nutrafin units in my 34G. I use a DIY recipe which gives a higher CO2 output than using the supplied sachets - it's also a lot cheaper. My CO2 output is approx 25 mg/l and each unit's mixture lasts 14 to 18 days. I use half teaspoon yeast (Activator), level teaspoon bi-carb of soda (Stabiliser) and fill the sugar and water just over the markers. You can experiment with different yeast/bi-carb quantities to acheive the desired result.

You could get away with one unit on a 29G if you use more yeast than recommended - the downside is that you will have to change the mixture more frequently- probably every 10 days or so if you want a decent CO2 output.

I have one of these and their instructions are written wrong. I don't have them in front of me right now but as best I can remember, one place said something aobut being for up to 20 gallon tanks but another place said for 60 gallon tanks to use the bottom location for the tube. I think it said for a 30 gallon you were to use the middle location and for 20 gallon or less, you use the top. Don't hold me to those but I do know that the two different places on their instructions contradict each other or at least they did on mine.
