Hi all,

I'm interested in buying the Hagen Glomat Double Starter unit but its only available in 20w 30w and 40w and I'm using 30" 25w t8. My question is, will the 30w unit be ok to run two 25w bulbs?

Thanks.

Hey bow1,

I recently was informed about these too from SuperColey and wanted to ask him something similar. I think he could give you the info on them, give him time to see the post, or pm him maybe...

EDIT: to ask a question. hey bow1, that's an awesome tank you have in your avatar, got any info on it or a journal of some sort? It looks like it would be a good read on how you did that :#

You are fine "under running" ballasts... but why put petrol in the LFS merc ? Goto an electrical distributer, or online and get something like this :

CLICK ME !

Shop around and you can have one for under £20... I bought a couple (1 spare) when I setup again 3 years back... and the 1st one is still doing the do ! (and uses much less electric than LFS cheapo "magnetic" control gear)

Hi BobRoss

The thread I started is here My tank
Theres not much to read its mainly pics, but basicly this is my first tank that I got of a friend second hand. Its only 36" 15" 12" but its got me started. I built the stand where it is because space is tight at home.

Rooster,

Thanks for the link. The hagen double is an electric balast thats why I'm interested in it, and have seen it for £22 which I think is reasonable enough.

Thanks again for the replies.

Blimey thats cheap ! where did you see that ? and does that include tube end connectors ?

Mmmmm, they are the old type, magnetic ballasts... most of your electricity is used in heat !

The single starters are magnetic but the doubles are electronic, just scroll down to the doubles and you will see it says "Double Glo uses a state-of-the-art electronic ballast for cool, quiet application."

Thats what happens when you skip read ! Not bad price at all then, concidering that you would pay maybe £10 for the tube connectors ! :good:
