Been noticing that my platies were sort of ruling the tank while the little girl bettas mostly hid in the grass clumps. One platy in particular seemed to be a bit of a bully, chasing even the other platies.Tonight I noticed some chewed up looking fins and tails on the cute little crown tails. And they got chased off when they tried to come out for feeding. So I moved all but the oldest(bettas)one into separate containers.Had to get a bit creative in finding space. At that point the boss platy started chasing the other platies more relentlessly. And so I put him in the other 10g with the HM/CT male. And now he is finding out what being chased feels like :S :grr:
I may need to remove him.

I'm not sure how much of the tail/fin damage was actual nipping and how much might have been due to spending so much time in the plastic grass. But I think in general it was not a good community mix.The bettas may have simply been a bit too young and small to fend for themselves in a big tank.I'm going to let them rest and heal in their own spaces for a while.

Meanwhile,I was given an old 10g tank which is cleaning up better than expected. And I just picked up another 1g Aquaview.Tomorrow I can start planning what to do with everyone.Tonight I am just too tired...we need a sleepy smilie...lol.

I'm glad to hear that you caught them before any serious injury resulted.

I hope their fins heal quickly, and good luck deciding what to do with them all.
