I was just trying to catch my common pleco to put him in my 55g and I remember from past times that he always got caught in the net before so I tought I try to catch him with my hands but I had a bit of trouble catching him which meant that he got touched alot while I was trying to catch him so will he be fine once he is in the 55g, if not what would you recommend I do?

He ought to be fine. Plecs, especially Commons, can take a surprising amount of handling. Just give him time to rest and hide, see how he does.

So I don't need to add stress coat or anything to replace the slime coat that may have came off when I touched him?

If you want to, you can though in my opinion, most of the stress coat treatments don't do much, they can't really hurt either. Better safe than sorry I guess to add it.

As long as your hands were wet the plec should be fine. Surprised you didn't get stuck by a spine or two using bare hands.

Plecs are easy to catch if you aren't in a big hurry. Put some zuccini in a large clean glass jar or vase. Put this in the tank & wait for the plec to go in & eat. Lift out the container fish & all.

No I didn't get stuck at all because for some reason unlike the other fish he didn't flop around like I thought he would be he just expanded his fins and stayed still.

I lift out most of my fish by hand where possible. So long your hands are wet it's no problem. Mine seem to much prefer it to nets etc. Much quieter and don't flip around. Alot of my gourami fry were moved to their tank that way. Not sure if I'd try it with synos though. They might try and latch on and I don't prefer having all my fingers in working order. And the Doras spines look somewhat.....sharp. :X
Hugs,
P.
