ANYWAYS, SO I WAS DOING MY EVERY-THER-DAY 3 GALLON WATER CHANGE IN MY 26 GALLON TANK. I STICK THE VACCUM INTO THE GRAVEL, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN, MY GOURAMI BITES MY ARM!! T REALLY STARTLED ME... IT WAS KIND OF FREAKY! ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS KIND OF WACKY EXPERIENCE??

My balas regularly have a nibble on my arm when im doing tank maintainance they dont hurt but like you say it startles if your not expecting it  I've also been biten by my needle fish and they do hurt, lots of sharp teeth

Would it help to over feed a bit before you do the cleaning? Maybe that way they would be more subdued and a bit less agressive. Seems if you use a smaller vacum you could get a more thourough cleaning with the same amount of water????
Or you could just wear gloves...lol :/

I give my guys a little more food than usual before i clean it so far does the trick .

My Sunburst Gourami nibbles at my hand every time I vaccuum tank. It tickles and I figure he just loves me. He is not afraid at all.

Why don't you just cry me a river? :fun: Y'all need to visit someone with an Oscar. These guys will jump above the water line to swallow a finger or such. This doesn't hurt much but is definatly more startling than a little gouramie (other than the Giants :D ).

Hey the "needle" part in needle fish isn't just because of their shape, have you seen the teeth on a 10" on of these!

had my red devil draw blood out of my finger that he got ahold of and i pulled out of his mouth. hurt like a #@**&^#@ ! think i said a few explexetives also.
