Guppy X Platy

Nope, platys and swordtails can cross breed and frequently do. In theory mollys can breed with guppies though i haven't seen pictures or what results.

Molly x Guppy Hybrid

That's actually a type of Molly, not a cross. It's a good idea of what it may look like though.

Well then, lots of people on this forum have been lying cause they say that is one. :p

Not any more than you were lying when you said it was. Just been mistaken, that's all. We've had this picture up several times, and each time it lasts until someone comes on and points out that it is not a picture of a hybrid, but a picture used to show what such a hybrid might look like. I've never actually seen a picture of a genuine hybrid.

It has vaguely the same shape as a Mosquito fish, but it's definitely a type of Molly. I know that, I've seen others that have a similar kind of coloring but definitely have a Molly shape. That one appears to be young, which may be why it doesn't look as "Molly"ish.

Also note it's a Poecilia. ;)

i just want to say (which i'm shocked noone has mentioned it):

ghost_89918 if you do hybridize these fish, use female swordtails with a male platty as swordtail fry are generally larger than platy fry and may cause unnecessary stress to the mom if it is the other way around (male swordtail, female platies)

also note that you won't really get anything to amazing as most of the fish in the lfs may have been hybridized already for color variations. all you should get out of it is regular looking fish and swordtails with a stubby tail. nothing to amazing. to me it may be a waste of time as they do it so readily and would want to try and breed the mysterious guppy x molly cross and show people what it would look like. it will be much more of a challenge and you may get some cooler results from it. the actual conditions to do it are a mystery to me, but if i knew them i would try it myself in a seperte controlled tank just for them.

but best of luck to you getting something cool in your cross. i myself have done thi already and it wasn't to amazing for me and gave away the babies when they matured.
