My female guppy is pregnant again for about the 4th time (I think) but she almost looks too big for pregnancy, she can hardly swim and is bigger than normal

Am I due hundreds of baby guppies or is she about to die of a massive growth or something?

Cheers

um i think sh eis pregnaant she will be have ing duble that of te first time or more

Yes, I think you likely are to expect a lot of babies. I had one look like that and got thereabouts 70, though not all were born alive. I do wonder if a large pregnancy could be affecting her swim bladder too though.

I am sorry to say but in the video it looks as though her scales are pine coning a symptom of dropsy, although dropsy can be caused from a number of factors the prognosis is generally not good for a fish with the condition.
You could try adding aquarium salts to a hospital tank for the female but since she appears to already be at the pine cone stage it may be too late

Just when she turns and swims towards the rear of the tank again towards the end of the video, her belly scales are starting stick out.

I'll see if I can make the video run at a bigger screen, then it should be really obvious.
Yep if you hit the maximise tab at the top of the video screen the video will play larger and the pine coning is more obvious.

I can't maximize, no option.... but I went to where you said and advanced it to the point you described frame by frame... yes, sadly I can see it too now.

She's getting to the point where she can't swim now, her belly is more wedge shaped now rather than square. Iv put her in a breeding trap just incase.

What am I looking for when you mentioned pine coning?

Pine Coning is where the scales all stand out from the body, giving the body a jaggered serrated and bloated look. It is usually an indication of other illnesses going on with the fish but the common term for the pine coning look is Dropsy.

Sorry pretty much

, but as already said depending on the actual cause of the dropsy you maybe able to save her with aquarium salts or other medications.
I would also check all your water stats and do some more frequent water changes, one of the precursers to dropsy is water conditions.

Yuh, I have to agree.. looks like dropsy to me.. its fairly common in guppies really, they have rubbish immune systems..

If you are not squeemish and you believe there are fry inside... the moment she dies you could slice her open to try and free any fry.

I'm trying to cut down on fry so il give that a miss lol. Just flushed her down the loo as she was on her side this morning
